MUSC Central Energy Plant
This three-story, 60,000 sq. ft. energy plant is located one block from the Ashley River Tower Replacement Hospital. The structure is pile supported, structural steel, with a thin set brick and precast exterior. It supplies the hospital with chill water, steam and power from the energy plant via an underground piping system. Housed within the energy plant are three 1,300 to chillers paired with three cooling towers, three 500hp fire tube boilers, eight chill water and condenser pumps, and three 10,000 gallon fuel tanks to feed the 2,250KW generator in case of emergency. The energy plant was designed and constructed with future build out in mind providing space for twice the equipment currently installed.
