Riverside High School Greer, South Carolina
This high school is a state-of-the-art facility designed for 1,800 students. The building is constructed using a structural system of load-bearing precast concrete wall panels. The school’s focal point is a strong T-shaped design element in the center of the building. The project included complete demolition and recycling of the existing high school.
Trapezoidal classrooms throughout the structure permit additional day lighting and more space than traditional classrooms. Inlay brick and sandblasted concrete add a traditional look to the modern layout.
The project is LEED® -certified under the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable features include bicycle racks, waterless urinals, the use of natural light through rooftop monitors, and a unique sawtooth-shaped floor plan, a green roof garden, and a comprehensive energy-management system.
