Powdersville High School Williamston, South Carolina
The new Powdersville High School began with a construction budget of $37.6 million, but with M. B. Kahn’s preconstruction services and customized, local bid packaging, the cost came down to $23 million. This allowed the District to provide additional improvements to their elementary schools. At its 5 year anniversary, Powdersville High School celebrated a 96.2% graduation rate, which was the highest in the state among all public, non-charter or magnet schools with over 300 students. The current high school enrollment is 829 students. M. B. Kahn worked with the District and design team to overcome the challenges of the sloping site. The school features a large media center as the “hub” of the school, offering gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape.
