Richland Library Ballentine Irmo, South Carolina

Richland County voters passed a $59 million bond referendum to build new libraries and update existing branches to better match the way customers need and use the library today. M. B. Kahn is providing comprehensive Project Management services, including community input sessions, design reviews, cost estimating, bid strategy, and on site construction monitoring.

Richland Library opened the doors to its new Ballentine location in June 2017. The 13,000 square-foot library offers customers more than 4 times the amount of room for resources, technology, services and programs.  Public art pieces were assembled by three local artists with input and help from the community. Located near Lake Murray, SC, the Ballentine location is characterized by learning and playing, with a devoted group of users who enjoy reading, creating and community.

The $5.5 million project includes new spaces for:

• Artist/Maker Space
• Large meeting room
• Outdoor deck
• Family Restroom and Nursing Mother’s Room
